CCV GOALS AND PRIORITIES

CCV GOALS AND PRIORITY ISSUES

At our initial meeting early in 2010, the Concerned Coastal Voters developed the following major goals for our organization to pursue:

1. To publicly present conservative views in a professional, factual manner and to counter misinformation where appropriate.

2. To research topics of interest at the national and state levels, and share the information among members of our group.
3. To identify and pursue the most effective venues for disseminating factual information related to our priority issues.

4. To expand membership of our group to like-minded persons regardless of their political affiliation.

Some of the Issues We Care Most About:

1. Free Enterprise Economy (e.g., fiscal responsibility, tax policies that promote growth of businesses, jobs, and general prosperity, elimination of unnecessary bureaucracy and regulation)

2. Limited, responsible, and responsive government.

3. Strong national defense, including border security.

4. Adherence by politicians and the courts to the Constitution and the rights of the individual. (e.g., civil rights, freedom of expression, right to bear arms)

FREE, FREE, FREE (Published in the Independent Coast Observer)

The President’s most recent political ploy to use ObamaCare regulations to force Catholic institutions (hospitals, charities, etc.) to provide employees with “free” contraception and abortifacient pills is contrary to the First Amendment and a blow to the freedom of all Americans. I’m not a member of any organized religious group and Catholics certainly don’t need me to defend them. However, I, along with my CCV friends, revere the Constitution and its Bill of Rights. We share the deep concern of Conservatives across the nation who are angered that President Obama has casually set aside a significant aspect of the First Amendment. Conservatives rightly view the President’s action as a blatant attack on freedom.
Apparently many serious liberals (those who haven’t morphed into nanny-state progressives) also treasure the freedoms ensured by the Bill of Rights and were, at least momentarily, equally appalled at the President’s regulatory sleight-of-hand.The unexpected uproar from a cross-section of Americans against the President’s decree did cause him momentary concern, a sinking feeling in the pit of his stomach that he might lose a lot of votes, and not just Catholic votes. That quickly eased when his advisers reminded him that, in addition to being President, he also has become Supreme Leader of the Secular Church of America. Thus, reading from his newly-written regulatory bible, he decreed there was no problem; he and his Vicar, Kathleen Sebelius, would require the big bad insurance companies to provide the services for free.
The President and his all-knowing minions also proclaimed that the “free” prescriptions would actually save money. Hmmm. Let’s just make everything free then - - statins, insulin, blood pressure pills, tranquilizers, viagra . . . . The list of freebies is endless, as are the powers of a corrupt government that ignores and/or whimsically redefines Constitutional freedoms.
